The Word Monster, a friendly face and mascot of the PEI Literacy Alliance will be hanging out at the Atlantic Summer Institute (ASI) on Healthy and Safe Communities this year. This yellow–headed Monster knows all about literacy and how important it is… so this August from the 19th-22nd he will be cheering on the Institutes efforts to make communities healthier and safer places to be.

Our keynote address this year is Victorin Boudreau, a man who hails from Pointe-Verte, New Brunswick to share his story of growing up with very low literacy levels. He shows us that it is never too late to learn and now, at the age of 55 he is turning his life around…come and be moved, inspired and entertained by this charismatic man as he tells his story “Walking the Path of Literacy: A Journey of Courage.” This presentation will be head at the Murphy Centre at UPEI on Tuesday August 19th at 6:30pm. This presentation will be in French with simultaneous translation. Everyone is welcome and it is free! We hope to see you there!
