The Quaich Inc. is assisting local organizations to coordinate bilingual regional workshops to build leadership capacity among women and girls in Atlantic Canada. These workshops are a follow-up to the Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities' Symposium on Gender and Leadership, held in August 2011. The worshops will be held across Atlantic Canada, throughout the fall and winter.
The Symposium and workshops are part of a 3-year project receiving funding from Status of Women Canada, called Building Leadership Capacity Among Women and Girls in Atlantic Canada for Action on Underlying Conditions Impacting their Lives, their Families and Communities. The result of the project will be a model for intergenerational community leadership development, contributing to the national and international effort to address underrepresentation of women in decision making fora.
