211: Connecting People to Services in PEI

Since July 2014, The Quaich Inc. has been working with the United Way of PEI to build Prince Edward Island's first comprehensive database of programs and services, in preparation for creating a website and telephone line. The database will include services that are non-medical and non-emergency such as mental health promotion programs, shelters, food banks, children’s recreation and much more. The final goal is that someday there will be a 211 number where the public can access free, current, professionally maintained information about community, health, and social services, and it is an incredible initiative that will enhance the lives of Islanders. The 211 service will also help with monitoring high traffic services and determining needs that are not addressed by services on PEI.
